Farm Animal Cremation in Dubai: what to know
In Dubai, a summer afternoon in Dubai and a winter night in Dubai call for very different first steps after a death on the farm. Heat means shade, ice and same-day collection; cold means more time but frozen ground and harder access. The rules and the way prices are built stay the same across both, and that's what this page covers.
Farm animal aftercare throughout Dubai depends on three things more than anything else: the species, its weight and how far you are from a crematory that will take it. A pet crematory in one of the larger cities may accept a pygmy goat or a few hens without fuss, while a 200 lb kunekune or a llama may need an equine or large-animal facility some distance away. Livestock rules apply to pet goats, sheep and pigs as well as herds.

The local attitude to cremation
Whatever the local customs around human funerals, most rules for goats, sheep, pigs and poultry were written with farms and disease control in mind. That shapes the options more than tradition does. For keepers in Dubai, cremation is usually the route that fits every rule while still bringing something home.
How much to budget in Dubai
Farm animal cremation is available in some places around Dubai, though providers that take goats, sheep or pigs are fewer than those for dogs and cats. Prices rise with weight. Ask for a written quote in local currency that lists collection, the cremation itself and the container for the ashes, and confirm the animal will be cremated on its own.
Because rules for livestock differ from country to country, the first call in Dubai is usually to your vet or the local veterinary authority, who will know what's allowed for a goat, sheep or pig and which crematories take them. The table shows published prices from other places as a rough guide to how weight affects cost.
| Place | Shared | Separate (ashes back) |
|---|---|---|
| UAE | AED 700 to 900 for a pet under 5 kg[1] | AED 2,300 to 2,700 up to 30 kg[1] |
| United States, over 90 lb | $150 to $200[2] | $350 to $450[2] |
| United States, 1,000 lb horse | Not usually offered | $600-$1,000[3] |

Rules worth knowing in Dubai
Rules for dead farm animals change more across borders than almost any other part of pet aftercare. England bans burying pet pigs, sheep and goats; many US states allow it with conditions; California even bans composting whole sheep and goats. The general notes for Dubai follow. Treat them as the pet baseline and check livestock rules on top.
In the UAE, animals may not generally be buried, and municipal disposal is mass cremation with nothing returned. Goats and sheep kept on private farms or estates fall under the same rules. If you want your animal's own ashes, ask a pet crematorium for a separate (individual) cremation, confirm it accepts the weight and get the price in writing.
Step by step, from the field to the ashes
- Move the body into shade or a cool barn, lay it on its side on straw or a tarp and cover it loosely against flies. Don't seal it in plastic.
- Keep the rest of the herd or flock calm. A close companion can have a few minutes to look at and sniff the body if that seems to settle it, then take it where the others can't see.
- Call your vet if the death was sudden or unexplained. Some diseases in pigs, poultry, sheep and goats must be reported before anything else happens.
- Decide whether you want your animal's own ashes. Everything else follows from that answer, because it narrows the field to fallen-stock collection, communal cremation or a private cremation.
- Weigh or estimate the weight honestly and give it with the species on the first call. Many pet crematories cap weight well below a grown goat or pig.
- Ask for a written total that bundles the cremation, pickup, mileage and urn, and have it before any vehicle leaves.
- Take keepsakes before collection: an ear tag, the collar or halter, a handful of feathers or a snip of fleece.
Memorials that fit a smallholding
Children often take the loss of a named farm animal hard, especially if they helped raise it from a kid or lamb. Letting them choose the scattering spot, paint a stone marker or write the animal's name on the barn wall gives them something to do with the feeling. The rest of the herd may call for a few days too; that's normal.
The services page compares what each option includes, the planning tools turn your animal's details into figures, and the poll results show what other families chose. All locations lists every region we cover.

Questions people ask
Can I get a quote for farm animal cremation in Dubai before my animal dies?
Yes, and it's a good idea for older stock. Call a provider with the species, an honest weight and your address, and ask for a written estimate covering cremation, collection and the urn. Most are glad to answer. You can also send us a request and we'll reply by email with options that serve your area.
Do I need to report the death of a backyard chicken or pig in Dubai?
Not usually for a single death with an obvious cause. Unexplained deaths, especially several birds or pigs in a short time, should be reported to your vet or animal health authority, because some diseases in poultry, pigs, sheep and goats are notifiable. Don't move or bury the animals until you've asked.
Do the rules in Dubai treat a pet pig differently from a farm pig?
Usually not. Animal-health and disposal rules tend to follow the species rather than the reason you keep it, so a pot-bellied pig that lives in the house is generally covered by the same rules as a commercial one. That can limit burial and composting. Cremation is allowed for both.
How quickly does a dead farm animal need to be dealt with in Dubai?
Many rules set a time limit, often a day or two after death, and warm weather shortens the practical window further because goats, sheep and alpacas bloat quickly. Keep the body shaded and loosely covered and arrange collection or delivery the same day if you can.
Is farm animal cremation common in Dubai?
For people, about a majority of deaths in Dubai end in cremation. For farm animals, burial and fallen-stock collection are still the traditional routes, but more families choose private cremation for the goats, pigs, sheep and alpacas they've named, especially in towns and on hobby farms near the cities.
Where in Dubai is farm animal cremation hardest to arrange?
Usually in the most rural areas, where crematories that accept large animals are furthest away and collection charges climb with every mile. Keepers there often deliver the animal themselves by trailer, or split a pickup with a neighbor. Ask any provider where their collection radius ends before you need them.
