That can close options a dog owner takes for granted. In Switzerland, dead farm animals, including pet goats, sheep and pigs, are normally taken to the commune's carcass collection point rather than buried; only small animals may be buried on private land. Some pet crematoria accept goats and smaller pigs for individual cremation. Ask your vet or commune which route applies to your animal.
What to do when a farm animal dies in Lausanne
- Check the time. In warm weather, aim to have your animal collected or delivered the same day. Ruminants bloat quickly.
- Lay the body on a tarp that's sturdy enough to pull, and prop the head up a little if you can; loading will go much more smoothly afterwards.
