Bringing your farm pet's ashes home in Marina Bay
A 150 lb goat or a pot-bellied pig won't fit the plans most pet crematories are built around. This guide explains your real options, from private cremation to farm-gate collection, and what each one costs.

Marina Bay, Central
Who can help with a goat, pig or sheep in Marina Bay
Plenty of people working in the Marina Bay financial district come from farming or riding families in Australia, New Zealand or the UK, and some still co-own a horse back home. When a large animal dies overseas, local rules there decide the options. Leave written wishes with whoever looks after the animal, so decisions about ashes or a lock of mane are not made in a rush over a phone line.
Marina Bay has no large animals, and the city-state as a whole has very few. Since horse racing ended at Kranji in 2024, the number of horses in Singapore has fallen further, with the remainder mostly at a few riding clubs and stables. For a horse, the stable manager usually coordinates what happens and can advise on whether individual cremation is possible.
In a rural area like Marina Bay, the biggest line on a cremation quote is often the journey rather than the cremation itself. Ask whether mileage is charged from the provider's base or from the edge of a free radius, and what happens if the crew needs a winch. Some keepers keep costs down by delivering the animal themselves, or by timing a collection with another owner nearby.
With roughly 5,000 residents, Marina Bay is the 4th-largest of the 5 Central communities we cover. Singapore, roughly 6 miles off, is the closest larger centre, and a share of the providers who cover Marina Bay run from there.
If you want to compare providers, look at Orchard (3 miles), Sentosa (3 miles) and Singapore (6 miles, a larger centre). Distance matters because pickup fees and the time until the ashes come back both grow with the drive.

In 2023, 81.16% of deaths in Singapore were cremated (4 crematoria).
$600-$1,000[2]
Cremating a 1,000-pound horse was reported to cost about $600-$1,000, depending on location and the price of propane.
3-5% of body weight[3]
Embrace notes cremated remains typically weigh about 3-5% of the pet's original body weight.
The published sources behind those figures are Embrace Pet Insurance and Extension Horses (eXtension national Cooperative Extension).

Cremation habits in Singapore, and what they mean for your animal
Cremation is the norm for people in Singapore: about 81.16%[1] of those who die there are cremated. That familiarity helps a little with farm animals. Families here rarely need to explain why they'd like the ashes rather than a grave, and pet crematories are well established. The limit is capacity rather than attitude: fewer of them take animals over about 150 lb, so the choice for a big goat or pig can be narrower than the local culture suggests.
Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) is where the Singapore figure comes from. It counts people; we use it because attitudes to cremating a pet in Marina Bay tend to follow attitudes to cremation generally.
Planning around the seasons in Marina Bay
Wherever you are, the rule for a farm animal is the same: shade, cover and speed. A goat, sheep or alpaca keeps fermenting after death and can bloat within hours in warm weather, and a large body holds heat. Lay the animal on its side on straw or a tarp, cover it loosely and ask for collection within the day.

Where the money goes: cremation, collection, urn
Keeping goats, pigs or poultry within city limits is tightly controlled in much of Asia, so a death may involve the agriculture or veterinary authority as well as a crematorium. Once that's clear, ask a pet funeral provider for the price for your animal's weight; the table shows published examples from the region as a rough guide.
The full price table by size is on our Central page, and the services page explains what each option includes.

Before you bury or compost in Central
Before you dig anything for a pig, alpaca, goat or sheep, it helps to know who writes the rules. Usually it's the agriculture or environment authority rather than the local pet bylaws, because the worry is groundwater and disease moving between farms. The Central notes below cover pets generally; your vet or a farm advisory service can confirm what livestock rules add on top.
In Singapore, keeping livestock at home is tightly restricted, and most homes are flats, so farm species are rare and home burial isn't an option. If you've lost a goat, pig or poultry kept under a licence or on a farm, speak to your vet and the veterinary authority first, then ask pet crematoria whether they accept your animal's species and weight.
What to do first, second and third
- Move the body into shade or a cool barn, lay it on its side on straw or a tarp and cover it loosely against flies. Don't seal it in plastic.
- Keep the rest of the herd or flock calm. Let a bonded companion see and sniff the body for a few minutes if it seems to help, then move it out of sight.
- Call your vet when the animal died without warning or you don't know why. Certain illnesses of pigs, poultry, sheep and goats carry a reporting duty that comes ahead of everything else.
- Decide whether you want your animal's own ashes. That one choice decides which providers can help: private cremation, communal cremation or fallen-stock collection.
- Weigh or estimate the weight honestly, then state it alongside the species as soon as you ring. Plenty of pet crematories set a limit far under what an adult pig or goat weighs.
- Ask for a written total covering cremation, collection, mileage and the urn before anyone sets off.
- Take keepsakes before collection: an ear tag, the collar or halter, a handful of feathers or a snip of fleece.
Remembering your animal in Marina Bay
Singapore's wildlife parks at Mandai handle their animals under their own arrangements, and farm animals are limited to a handful of small farms in the northwest. For anyone responsible for a large animal, planning ahead matters: ask what options exist locally, whether ashes can come back to you, and whether any part of the process would take place across the Causeway in Malaysia.

Questions people ask
Will I have to travel to Singapore to arrange things?
Not usually. Providers based in Singapore (roughly 6 miles from Marina Bay) collect from here as a matter of routine, and the paperwork is done by email or phone. If you want to be present for a witnessed cremation, that is when the drive matters.
Is cremation common in Singapore?
For people, yes: about 81.16%[1] of Singapore deaths end in cremation, according to Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023). Nobody publishes the same figure for pets, but in our experience pet choices in Marina Bay follow the human pattern closely, so cremation is the default most families here start from.
Which nearby towns can I compare with Marina Bay?
The closest communities we cover are Orchard (about 3 miles), Sentosa (about 3 miles) and Singapore (about 6 miles). Providers based in those places often serve Marina Bay too. Ask each one for a written total that includes collection, so the distance is priced in.
Can I get my animal's ashes back through fallen-stock collection?
No. Knackers, fallen-stock collectors and renderers process animals in bulk and nothing is returned. It's a respectful, lawful and inexpensive route, and some owners are comfortable with it. If you want your own animal's ashes, you need a private cremation, confirmed in writing, from a crematory that takes farm species.
Can I bring my goat or pig to the crematory myself?
Usually yes, and it often saves the whole collection fee. Call ahead to agree a time, confirm they accept the weight and ask how they unload. A pickup or small trailer with a ramp works well; lay the animal on a tarp so it can be slid rather than lifted. Bring a helper, and don't try to lift a heavy animal alone.
Are there farm animal cremation options near Marina Bay, or do I need to travel?
In a town the size of Marina Bay, the nearest crematory that takes goats, sheep or pigs is often in a larger centre such as Singapore. Many offer farm collection with a mileage charge; others will accept a trailer delivery for less. Your local vet will know which provider other smallholders use.
